#5 Vet in Rotherham, South Yorkshire
Hall Court Veterinary Group describes itself as an independently owned practice that has existed for over 100 years, operating from its current site since the 1960s. Based on the website and reviews, it appears set up for routine preventive care and nurse-led clinics (for example nail clips and senior checks), with some in-house out-of-hours cover and then an external provider outside those times.
From recent owner accounts, experiences are mixed: several long-term clients describe pets being handled with patience (including nervous dogs who “are never afraid” at the surgery) and mention feeling charges are fair/not overcharged, while a minority of reviews describe feeling rushed, poor handling of a nervous dog, and one detailed complaint alleging a cat’s condition was played down.
Services and arrangements mentioned by the practice website and reviews include
Out-of-hours care (as stated on the website)
Google rating: 4.5 stars from 55 reviews. “”

I rushed my cat into see the Olive Lane Branch on last week. He had skin lesions on his face neck and legs. He could not poo and was screaming in the litter tray. I rushed him to the vet. She refused to give anything for his skin saying it was minor and healing. She said there was no poo in his bowel, but that was because it was already in his colon due to laxative administered and he pooed all over her as he was distressed. I was told to go back if he deteriorated. He was in a state when I took him. I did not trust this vets judgement and how she treated my boy so I took him to a different vet for a second opinion. I was told his skin was in a bad way and he was displaying signs of IBD and potentially skin psoriasis or possibly cancer. Either way I was told something needed to be done and he could not be left in the state he was in as he was very poorly. To cut a story short I had to have him pts as I could not put him through stressful diagnostic testing, when he was already suffering a depressed and withdrawn. Not eating or drinking, and did nothing but sleep. His skin had been a massive problem for several years! I therefore complained to hall court about how my beautiful boy was treated to be told he had a “minor graze” that was healing, and he was very lively. It was not a minor graze. He had sores on his cheeks, above his eye, neck and legs and was badly constipated. A cat should not need laxative and in the end that did not work. He was “very lively” as the poor boy was stressed and actually in distress. The “minor graze” comment was the worst, as it was not a graze and was not minor. They would weep and bleed and he was very sad. I had tried everything to help him. It was at worst skin cancer, and I suspect that is what it was! Graze just makes it sound trivial! The vet also claims they didnt do more due to my “financial constraints” but I had insurance!! I begged for skin treatment and got nothing. All I got for his cinstipation was one pouch of chicken broth and some probiotics!! The other vet said the bowel problems were most likely connected to the skin due to body inflammation. Again, without full diagnostics a definite diagnosis could not be given, but I have been there before putting a cat through biopsies and other invasive investigations and all it did was traumatise him and ruin his final days. I could not do that to a cat again. I could see he was ill, and the vet knew he was ill. I don’t need a degree in veterinary science to know my cat is dying. The vet at hall court only recorded him as unwell on his record as, and I quote “you say he is ill”. I will not give this company another penny of my money and told them to take me off their books. They may be cheap, but cheap is not always good!!! The other vet company (who shall remain nameless) was very expensive but actually examined my poor baby properly and gave him the respect and care he deserved. You get what you pay for. I am bereft, angry and upset. You complain and they just defend their colleague. I expected that as it is par for the course. I’m just a stupid crazy cat lady! What ever; it won’t bring him back. He is in heaven now and at peace. No thanks to them who played down his condition as being nothing, and just said bring him back if he deteriorates. He was already bad. A previous cat I had became “lively” in the vet out of distress but he was severely ill. I seriously question their professionalism and ability to do their job!

I would like to thank Hall Vets., once again for the treatment and attention given to our dog. Beau is always treated with kindness and patience. This pays off, because she is never afraid whilst she’s at the surgery. Angela is our favourite vet, but all the others, who we’ve seen are just as good. When it comes to paying for treatment, we’re always satisfied that we’re not being overcharged. We've used Hall court Vets. for nearly 50yrs. having had various pets. We have recommended them to other people

Emily takes fantastic care of my dog I wouldn't take her anywhere else, however hallcourt falls short when it comes to dispensing prescriptions to get meds elsewhere. Rang Saturday for a written repeat prescription and was told to call back Tuesday (after bank holiday). Phoned Tuesday and need to phone Wednesday to pay for prescriptions ( when it will be emailed to me)...Good job I've sufficient meds for my dog to allow for the delay. It's not mandatory to get meds from Hallcourt ...they need to up their game and provide the same service for dispensing written prescriptions as medication.

I felt rushed with my nervous dog. The vet backed him into the corner and I could see how scared he was with lip licking and whale eyes but she carried on and then my dog snap towards her (which he has never done before) to which she said he was aggressive and put a muzzle on him (which I don’t have a problem with) but what kind of vets ignores all the signs of stress and then blames the dog when something goes wrong. The assistant however was lovely which is the only reason I gave 2 stars. I won’t be going back there.

Recently moved to Hall Court from Vets 4 Pets after a misdiagnosis. Hall Court gave us a 2nd opinion, agreeing with us, and were very fair with their charge. Fast forward a few months and unfortunately we had to return with our Dog for suspected joint problems, and we've been referred to a specialist; expecting to pay atleast a consultation fee we were happy to be told there wasn't one on this occasion. Very professional service, friendly staff, lovely facilities and genuinely seem to care for pets over financial gain. It's a shame the same can't be said for our last Vets! 😪 fingers crossed we continue to be happy with their service, but so far so good!
